We’re officially on the countdown! This time next week, we’ll be set up at ExCel London ready to launch our brand new homework and planning app, PenstripeEdu. The Bett exhibition lasts for four days, from the 20th to the 23rd of January. With a different schedule of events each day and over 700 exhibitors, Bett is the UK’s largest education technology event.
We’ve been planning our visit to Bett for a long time – and trust us – our exhibition space is certainly unique! Our stand – F90 – isn’t your average desk, chairs and couple of freebies. Instead, we’re hosting the Penstripe Coffee Lounge. Here, you’ll be able to relax with a hot drink when you need a break from walking around the ExCel arena, giving you a space to sit down and discuss what you’ve seen so far with friends, peers and colleagues, in a welcoming PenstripeEdu branded setting.
The official launch of PenstripeEdu makes Bett a landmark event for us. Although we’ve been talking about and testing the homework and planning app since late last year, we’ve waited until Bett for the official launch. We’re hoping to create as many PenstripeEdu fans as possible at the exhibition! Our team will be on-hand to offer demos of the app at the Penstripe Coffee Lounge, and answer any questions that you might have.
To mark the launch, we’re extremely pleased to announce that Jon Tait, senior education leader, professional speaker and 2012 Olympic Torch bearer, will be giving a presentation at our exhibition space. Jon is a TED Talks contributor, a Microsoft UK Education speaker and regular presenter at TeachMeets. We’re absolutely delighted to have him speaking at the Penstripe Coffee Lounge. Jon’s talk is titled ‘The future of technology in education’, and with his significant insight into this topic, you’re guaranteed to leave with a fresh perspective on the benefits of technology in education. This event will be taking place on Thursday 21st at 3:15pm, and everyone’s welcome!
We’re also bringing something a bit different to our exhibition space. As you may already know if you follow us on Twitter, here at Penstripe HQ, we’re the proud owners of a retro T2 Volkswagen camper van that was (originally) bright yellow. However, it’s been treated to a bit of a makeover…
You’ll be able to see our VW’s brand new look at Bett, and after seeing the van, we need your help to name him or her! The best suggestion will win a prize, so please make sure to come along, have a coffee and share your ideas with us. We also want to hear the best excuses you’ve received, or given, for handing in homework late, there’ll be space for you to tell us alongside your entry. Alternatively, you’ll be able to snap a selfie with the van and enter on Twitter.
