At Penstripe, we’re always keen to get involved with charities. We contribute to a number of organisations, and have recently partnered with BackCare, the back health charity, in a bid to get information about back health into the school diaries of every UK child.
Osteopath Lyndee Oscar, founding member of the BackCare Essex organisation, has been working with us on special inserts that sit inside our Penstripe school planners. Lyndee is leading a campaign called Kids Backs 4 the Future, which aims to raise awareness of back health at school age after a documented surge in the number of young people seeking treatment for upper and lower back pain.
Alongside Lyndee, we developed a designated page for school planners, that provides pupils with back health tips. The exclusive BackCare insert includes postural adjustment techniques and guidance for pupils on back health, to help prevent problems in later years. Lyndee visited St Benedict’s to run a back care workshop alongside Colchester MP – Will Quince – who launched the health-focused planner inserts at St Benedict’s on the day.
Our work with BackCare and the Kids Backs 4 the Future campaign has already received some fantastic support from Lyndee’s local media, with the Essex County Standard and Colchester Gazette both covering the story.
We’re already looking forward to supporting Lyndee as she continues to spread the word about back health to pupils around the UK and we’ll be updating our blog with further details.
