The reference sections we can provide for the back of your student planners are a popular addition, with 400,000 sections being added to A5, A6 and B5 19/20 school planners.
The information presented within is carefully monitored to ensure accuracy year-on-year. We are very careful to ensure this is the case and I thought it would valuable (and perhaps interesting) to walk you through how we create the sections to you can understand they add to student planners.
The first reference sections appeared in our Secondary Planners 20 years ago as we started to see s requirement from school to turn their homework diaries into something more than just a place to store dates and reminders.
The first section included a wide variety of carefully sourced reference elements – maps, grammar and punctuation rules, mathematical information and key scientific information. In time this evolved to include all the elements we now see:
The most popular reference section includes information on:
Literacy
Mathematics
Maps of the UK, Europe and The World
General Science including the Periodic Table
Health and Fitness
We are frequently asked how we keep this information current. The content within can be split into two types, information that doesn’t change year-on-year, and information that does.
The information that could potentially change year-on-year includes:
Religious dates
Website addresses
Phone numbers
Population data
Periodic table
Countries and city names
Our process to ensure the content is correct is to refer to a number of common reference sources and then feed any changes through to the design team to ensure the artwork is updated ahead of print. Using our art working system MyPenstripe means we can easily make a monitor these changes to ensure none of the old artwork slips back into circulation.
If you spot any errors in the content in our reference sections then please let us know by emailing info@penstripe.co.uk.
